Since joining us, he’s worked on many important projects, but is particularly proud of a recently completed major works project at Vale Royal House, in the heart of bustling Chinatown. In the pipeline for about 12 years, renovating the site has been one of the most complex and challenging projects ever undertaken by the council.Before work started, Mihir had to liaise with dozens of different stakeholders, taking into account local events such as the Chinese New Year celebrations and the vibrant, round-the clock nature of the area. But after a challenging two year programme he and his team are proud to have delivered upgrade work to 117 state-of-the-art apartments set around a beautiful hidden courtyard, which are home to more than 1500 people from a hugely diverse range of backgrounds, sitting above 15 new commercial food and retail shops.Mihir is dedicated to providing homes that people can cherish and be proud of, places where they can live, work and raise their families. His vision and inspiration has been the driving force behind the transformation of a rundown inner-city area into an oasis of peace, calm and security, and will allow its residents to grow and flourish in the heart of one of the world’s great capital cities.The Role:As a Senior Development Manager, you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster’s success. Your responsibilities will include managing the full project cycle, leading external and internal specialists to ensure all standards in term of costs, designs, quality and timescales are met, and establishing relationships with relevant stakeholders like contractors, agents and consultants.Expect to work in collaboration with the wider team, meet deadlines without prompting and meet WCC obligations and targets, including in relation to social value. You’ll also need to review and report on revenue and cost, design and progress meetings, development and project plans, risk assessment, mitigation and transfer reports, to name a few.Reviewing and understand projects, developing project briefs and determining project risk in consultation with others will also be your responsibility. You’ll also be liaising with procurement and legal team to oversee all procurement activity, external and internal legal advisors to implement contractual structures and commission legal due diligence for potential development opportunities.Leading and managing multi-disciplinary project teams, negotiating land transactions and taking the lead on evaluation of technical and commercial proposals are also things you’ll be doing as part of this role. In addition, you will oversee the finalisation of technical designs and actively engage with the Project Manager to verify that all designs meet contract obligations. By facilitating rigorous project gateway reviews, you will ensure compliance with design standards, commercial structures, risk management, and cost controls. You will also champion health, safety, and the promotion of healthy working conditions on site, while monitoring key performance indicators and managing change control processes to proactively address any disputes.Finally, you will coordinate the handover and aftercare stages by liaising with internal teams and external consultants to secure timely and quality completion of all project deliverables. This includes confirming handover programmes, managing formal approvals, and ensuring that all project documentation is closed out appropriately to the satisfaction of both WCC and local residents.Please refer to the for more information.About You:You will need a proven track record at a senior project management level within the development and construction sector, ideally having worked as an Employers’ Agent or in a lead client role. You should be adept at analysing complex problems, developing robust business models, and managing risks effectively. In this role, your ability to craft and deliver presentations and reports that engage a wide range of audiences – including senior managers and elected members – will help you be successful.You must be capable of inspiring, motivating, and coaching team members to achieve high performance while supporting and coordinating senior leadership teams. Demonstrable experience in managing political and cultural challenges, as well as delivering project, programme, and change management initiatives, is key. A strong commercial focus with active contract management experience, coupled with in-depth knowledge of procurement and various building contracts, service and development agreements, will set you apart.Additionally, you should have a proven ability to manage main contractors and consultants through the successful delivery of projects, establish and maintain scheme budgets and cashflows, and oversee financial reporting. If you excel in analysing project data related to cost, spend, progress and quality, and can take timely actions to mitigate risks, then you will be well placed to drive our projects forward.Westminster City Council is committed to supporting Care Leavers into the workplace.
