It embraces collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches to change-making through art, design-thinking curriculum and research, making OCAD U a local, regional, national and global leader in art and design.It is an exciting time to join the OCAD U community as the University is at a key stage in its institutional transformation, with the implementation of its and guiding principles — driving positive impact; decolonization, indigenization and equity; environmental sustainability; emerging as a vibrant hub; student centered approaches; innovation in learning teaching and research; and financial stewardship.Reporting to the Executive Director, Advancement, as a senior member of the Advancement team, the Senior Development Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies and programs relating to OCAD University’s (OCAD U) major gift fundraising initiatives. The Senior Development Officer is responsible for securing significant and ongoing financial support for OCAD U and consistently enhancing the pool of future donors, sponsors, and community partners to ensure annual growth in revenue generation.Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of an integrated fundraising plan, containing strategies related to individual, corporate and foundation donors, sponsors, and prospects
  • Create and implement a prospect management plan to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of approximately 100 qualified donors and prospects
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of OCAD U’s fundraising priorities
  • Build and steward philanthropic and corporate partner relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations to contribute to the achievement of fundraising targets
  • Align the University’s priorities with donor interests and develop strategies that ensure a strong and sustainable donor pipeline
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including faculty, staff, and senior volunteers to assist in prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Explore, develop & implement holistic strategies to build meaningful relationships with diverse communities and enhance OCAD U’s philanthropic outreach
  • Prepare and track proposals, call reports and briefing notes in the donor database
  • Collaborate with Advancement team members to develop and execute tailored donor recognition and stewardship plans for major donors and sponsors
  • Assist with preparing and briefing the President, Vice-Presidents and Deans as well as key volunteers for donor and prospect calls, events and visits
  • Communicate regularly with other staff members in Advancement to identify opportunities and coordinate activities related to the management of prospects and building the prospect pipeline
  • Support the Executive Director, Advancement in related duties that contribute to the successful operation of major gift fundraising and strategy

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a related field
  • Minimum five (5) years of direct fundraising experience in a higher education or related fundraising environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in and a passion for the arts and/or design, including the ability to articulate the many benefits of the arts/design to society and communities is an asset
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices and related CRA guidelines
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Proven track record of sound strategic planning and ability to meet revenue targets
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and participate collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Experience working with CRMs, preferably Raiser’s Edge NXT
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with both internal and external key stakeholders, including corporate partners and volunteers
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty
  • Occasional travel, weekend and evening work required

Compensation: Hiring Range: $79,659.00 – $85,002.00. Salary Range: $79,659.00 – $93,700.00, plus benefits.Hours of Work: Total of 35 hours per week.
