For non-NHS applicants, a fixed-term or secondment would be considered.You must have eligibility and entitlement to work in the UK which is required to be maintained throughout your period of employment.Who We AreNHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.The Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals (NMAHP) Directorate includes the Spiritual Care and Healthcare Chaplaincy workstreams and works at a national level to support the delivery of NES’s strategic plan and works in response to commissions from the Scottish Government, Territorial and National Boards and a range of stakeholders to develop Workforce Education. Our work and partnerships support practitioners working in Health and Social Care to develop throughout their careers and with high quality accessible resources to support their ongoing professional development.You will be joining a programme within the NMAHP Directorate in NES that incorporates public health including addressing wider determinants of health inequalities, population health interventions such as screening, health improvement and health protection. You will be the first AHP role within this programme, you will be line managed within this programme and have professional support from the AHP strategic lead for Public Health within NES.The OpportunityWe are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our Public Health team.Collaboration is the cornerstone of this role. The post holder will collaborate across professional and organisational structures and boundaries to deliver innovative, inclusive, interprofessional education.Working as a Senior Educator within the team you will have the opportunity to scope additional education needs for AHPs identified as you contribute to the development and implementation of the refreshed UK AHP Public Health strategic framework.You will also consider Continuing Professional Development needs of the AHP workforce in the context of the HCPC standards relating to public health on a range of levels of learning for AHPs and support staff working at informed, specialist and/or expert levels.Do you want to support delivery on the educational implications arising from the AHP Public Health Implementation Plan for Scotland, specifically the recommendations assigned to NES as lead agency.Do you enjoy working in partnership and building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and across professions, teams and agencies?Do you want to work closely with Scottish Government policy colleagues to plan, deliver and evaluate learning opportunities for AHP colleagues?Do you want to be key to the delivery of a series of webinars and other online learning activities linked to the themes within the Implementation Plan, which enhances the learning and development experience of the AHP workforce across health, social care and wider public sector?Do you enjoy problem solving and collaborating with others?Working within the Public Health team in the NMAHP Directorate you will have the opportunity to:

  • Familiarise yourself with work underway in Scotland, coordinated by the chair of the Scottish AHP Public Health Framework Implementation Group, and linking to UK wide work on public health
  • Collaborate with Further Education/HEIs, Public Health Scotland, professional bodies, Scottish AHP Directors Group, and relevant organisations to identify and explore the understanding of each professions’ potential contribution to Public Health
  • Build on work undertaken by AHP Career Fellows and by NES project workers funded through an “expression of interest” route, using online approaches such as white board methodology to gather views, stories and experiences of AHPs regarding their current and potential roles in supporting public health priorities
  • Review existing stories gathered and published on the NES website and have the potential to design learning resources created from these stories

  • An HCPC registered member of the Allied Health Professions
  • Experience and knowledge of AHP contribution to one or more aspects of Public Health
  • Familiar with the policy landscape relevant to AHP Public Health work in Scotland in health and social care settings
  • Experience and/or qualification in education/facilitation of learning
  • Experience in planning a project and achieving timescales and evaluation
  • Experience in influencing and collaborating with excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to work with a range of stakeholders and meet deadlines
  • Ability to use technology to work remotely
  • Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise workload and to meet strict deadlines
