The Field Survey Assistant works primarily in the field under the direction of a Project Manager and a Field Survey Technician (Party Chief). The Field Survey Assistant will assist the Party Chief in all aspects of survey work. They will work on a wide range of projects from land development and strata/air space work, topographic and rights-of-way surveys for infrastructure and capital works projects, construction and monitoring surveys, surveys on First Nation lands and many other diverse types of surveys.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and use a variety of surveying instruments such as total stations, GNSS receivers etc.
- Assist Party Chiefs in preparation of field survey records.
- Assist in organization and maintenance of survey equipment.
- Clear vegetation and debris for measurements to be taken.
- Follow all safety guidelines provided by Aplin & Martin.
- Be a positive representative of the company to your co-workers, the public, and clients; and,
- Any other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience in survey setting.
- Survey or Geomatics Technology Diploma is an asset.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying survey equipment.
- Ability to work in a variety of outdoor settings and weather conditions.
- Ability to work as a team member and take direction.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Valid BC driver’s license.
- Available to work out of town occasionally, and,
- Availability of personal vehicle for business use (mileage will be compensated).
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $54,080 to $66,560 per year, commensurate with experience, skillsets, and qualifications.Benefits & Rewards
