Explore exciting opportunities in Financial Services.Your OpportunityAn opportunity exists for a Senior Financial Analyst in our Financial Reporting department to lead a high performing team responsible for the accounting and financial reporting related to Stantec’s global corporate real estate portfolio and equipment leasing activities. This is a permanent position in the Edmonton office.Your Key ResponsibilitiesSupervising and mentoring Accounting Technicians and AnalystsReviewing lease contracts and checklists to ensure compliance with IFRSReviewing sublease contracts and related cease use or sublease calculationsVerifying the accuracy of updates in CoStar, our lease management databaseReviewing and approving complex journal entries.Reviewing numerous related balance sheet reconciliations and continuitiesPreparing and reviewing related financial statement note disclosuresCompleting your responsibilities in our 5-day period end close process to ensure accurate and timely generation of financial statementsReviewing all recurring lease payments for North AmericaCoordinating lease accounting support for global finance services teams and the acquisition and annual budget processesEnsuring compliance with company policies, practices, and proceduresEnsuring key controls covering your areas of responsibilities related to Stantec’s SOX and internal control program are complied withIdentifying and implementing process improvements and maintain related documentationResponding to internal and external audit requestsQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsEffective communication skills, including written and oral English language competencyA very high degree of accuracy in analyzing contracts and financial informationStrong organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities and firm deadlinesIntermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and TeamsWell-developed leadership skills, demonstrating initiative and assertivenessEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree with a professional accounting designation or in process of receiving designationMinimum of five years of experience in accounting and financial reporting is required, with two years of supervisory experience, preferably with an international company.Strong understanding of real estate or other leases agreements and experience with lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16 is required.Experience with CoStar Real Estate Manager, Oracle and BlackLine would be considered an asset.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other’s talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us.
