We are currently hiring for a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Finance, Merchandising, and Marketing team.Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

  • Responsible for explaining periodic variations in gross profit results compared to the budget and the previous year (sales, margin, supplier income, discounts, rebates, etc.) to their team and partners.
  • Analyze, interpret, present, and recommend weekly financial impacts of gross profit.
  • Design and present profitability analyses of circular promotions to the merchandising team and advise partners on the best strategies to adopt.
  • Prepare new analytical reports to support the diverse needs of the merchandising and marketing departments.
  • Produce periodic estimates of gross profit results.
  • Play a key role in the annual gross profit budgeting process.
  • Manage various projects, contribute to change and innovation, adapt analytical tools, and propose new management controls.
  • Responsible for explaining annual and quarterly variations to internal and external auditors.
  • Record various journal entries to ensure proper accounting treatment of results.

What you have to offer:

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting combined with five (5) years of relevant experience (any other combination deemed equivalent will be considered).
  • A CPA designation is an asset.
  • You are proficient in the Windows environment, particularly in advanced Excel and Access.
  • You are recognized for your autonomy, analytical skills, initiative, and organizational abilities.
  • Bilingualism (spoken and written) is required. The candidate will work with peers from other provinces to develop and implement tools and processes on a national scale and provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada.
  • Knowledge of SAP, BW, and Longview systems is an asset.
