We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Internal Audit Senior Manager to join our Internal Audit team in Hyderabad, India. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of experience in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and internal auditing. This role will be pivotal in leveraging data analytics and AI to enhance our internal audit processes, ensuring compliance, and driving operational efficiency. Additionally, the candidate will lead the acceleration of AI and generative AI adoption within the internal audit team.

This position within our Global Internal Audit group offers an exciting opportunity to lead, learn, and make a significant impact on risk management. As part of the role, you will collaborate with internal audit team members, providing them with analytical and AI tools and capabilities to drive more efficient and effective audits. Additionally, you will work closely with senior business leaders, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding audit and enterprise risk management. Your expertise and partnership will play a crucial role in enhancing risk management practices throughout the organization.  A crucial aspect of succeeding in this role is to drive and execute the next generation data-driven analytics and AI program for the Global Internal Audit group. By leveraging data-driven insights, analytics, and AI, you will contribute to enhancing the speed and efficiency of our internal audit processes, ultimately supporting the timely delivery of BMS innovations to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Analytics and AI Integration:
    • Develop and implement data analytics and AI strategies and techniques to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of internal audit activities and processes.  Utilize advanced analytics and AI to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks.
  • AI and Generative AI Adoption:
    • Lead the acceleration of AI and generative AI adoption within the internal audit team. Identify opportunities to integrate these technologies into audit processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Provide guidance and training to audit teams on data analytics and AI tools and techniques.
  • Audit Planning and Execution:
    • Support audit teams in designing data driven audit programs that incorporate data analytics and AI techniques to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
    • Collaborate with audit teams to identify new areas where data analytics and AI can be applied to improve audit planning, scoping, and execution.
  • Risk Assessment:
    • Support audit teams in conducting risk assessments using data analytics and AI to identify high-risk areas and prioritize audit activities.
    • Provide insights into emerging risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
    • Assist in implementing an enterprise-wide risk management framework and strategy.
  • Reporting and Communication:
    • Prepare comprehensive audit reports that clearly communicate findings, risks, and recommendations. Present audit results to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, finance, and operations, to gather data and ensure the accuracy and completeness of audit information.
    • Collaborate with other risk functions (e.g., Enterprise Risk Committee, Audit and Risk Management Subcommittee, Compliance and Ethics, Quality Assurance, Cyber and Information Security etc.) to ensure alignment and coordination of risk management efforts.
    • Develop tools and capabilities to optimize reporting on the activities of risk management functions activities across an organization to assist leaders in understanding and evaluating risks to make more informed decisions.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in data analytics, AI and Internal Auditing and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in audit analytics and AI practices.
    • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance audit efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Foster a risk-aware culture by promoting risk management awareness and training programs.
  • Compliance and Standards:
    • Ensure all audit activities comply with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain a high level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Other
    • Engage in active participation within external professional organizations to establish a strong network and gain insights into emerging trends in analytics, AI and Internal Auditing.
    • Participate in departmental projects as assigned (e.g., audit lessons learned, training, continuous improvement, etc.).
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, or CPA are preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 6 -8 years of experience in data analytics, AI, and public accounting/internal auditing (incl. experience in financial, operational, or compliance auditing). Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
    • A minimum 3 years of people manager experience, including team building, direction setting, feedback, performance management, and development.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI, Qlik, and Automation Anywhere or UiPath is preferred.
    • Experience in implementing AI strategies and use cases for internal auditing.
    • Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Python or R for data analysis and automation is preferred.
    • Experience with ERPs, such as SAP, is preferred.
    • Strong understanding of internal audit methodologies and risk management practices.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills:
    • English fluency, both verbal and written, is required for this position. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also necessary. Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to senior management.
  • Leadership:
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing and mentoring audit teams. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proven track record of coordinating and cooperating across multiple teams to prioritize varying business objectives and drive action to meet business requirements; recognized as an influential leader with credibility in cross-functional project management.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced global environment with multiple competing priorities while ensuring adherence to deadlines.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a deep understanding and practical experience using tools across the analytic landscape. This includes, but is not limited to, Tableau, Alteryx, and other modeling and visualization tools. Additionally, experience in statistical modeling and machine learning techniques is highly desirable.
