This role is accountable for managing the global BCP category strategy for Hydraulics across the BCP business.Job Summary:
This candidate leads the collaboration with Hydraulics Systems and Components Engineering and suppliers on delivering the quality, cost, and performance requirements for hydraulic components across BCP products. This candidate collaborates with suppliers, sites, and product groups to develop and optimize a resilient world-class supply base.What You Will Do:People: The successful candidate will manage a high performing global team of supplier development engineers and purchasing professionals who manage the supply base to deliver on BCP’s QCLDM requirements. Reporting directly to this position are Supplier Development Engineers, Buyers, Advanced Purchasing Analysts, and Purchasing Analysts.Leadership : Develop, mentor, and train personnel capable of delivering the Global BCP Hydraulics strategy. Lead supplier performance management for the Hydraulics Category. Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse global organization and recognize employee excellence. Demonstrate sound business acumen. Demonstrate high degree of emotional intelligence while collaborating across a complex enterprise-wide procurement organization. Build and maintain strong relationships with key supplier leadership. Represent BCP on the Hydraulics Category Council.Strategy: Using a Strategic Sourcing approach, regularly evaluate strategic options and ensure that our Hydraulics sourcing strategy is aligned to support BCP global business requirements. Set and sustain strategy and lead teams to fully understand the capability of the current supply base and suppliers with potential for BCP.Customers: The role will encompass managing suppliers delivering into many Caterpillar facilities, including the service network. The role will require a strong communicator capable of keeping business partners fully informed of progress and working closely with the customer to ensure all requirements are met.Supplier Development: Utilizing the QCLDM supplier development and measurement tool, the incumbent will ensure an ongoing improvement plan is in effect with key suppliers. This will require relationship building at senior levels with the suppliers that encourages trust, professionalism and continuous improvement. Cost modeling will be used extensively and will require a strong knowledge of macroeconomics and well as component costing.What You Have (Basic Qualifications):Degree/Experience: bachelor’s degree in a technical or business curriculum OR extensive and demonstrated progressive experience in directly related roles.Proficient leading and developing diverse teams across multiple locations, fostering collaboration and alignment towards common objectives. Demonstrated ability to understand and respect cultural differences is crucial for effective global leadership. Candidate must demonstrate in their resume that they have experience in a global capacity.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely across all levels of the organization, facilitating seamless collaboration and alignment.Possess senior level expertise with a proven track record in comprehensive global procurement, demonstrating mastery across strategic sourcing, supplier management and supply chain optimization.Strong knowledge of quality management principles to procurement processes, ensuring consistent and continuous improvement methodologies.Proven track record of managing complex strategic relationship with key suppliers and stakeholders, driving collaboration, and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.Top Candidates Will Have:Strong communication and negotiation skillsUnderstanding of governmental, environmental, political, and geographic factors that influence a supply baseMBA or master’s degreeKnowledge of Quality and Cost Modeling toolsLean manufacturing and an understanding of lean principlesProfessional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g., Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified in Integration Resource Management (CIRM), or comparable international certificationAffiliation with Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), or comparable professional purchasing organizationPrevious 6 Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Sponsor experienceAbout Caterpillar:Caterpillar Inc. is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. Salary: £80,000 – £95,000 depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
