DESCRIPTIONAWS is seeking an infrastructure expansion professional to focus on deploying Amazon’s data centre footprint into new geographies. The New Region Strategy and Planning team within AWS Infrastructure assesses the technical, financial and local factors that need to be considered when determining the best approach for launching a new region, scaling the business and delivering for AWS customers.In this role you will lead end-to-end infrastructure planning for new data centre regions and will be expected to draw conclusions from financial models, formulate recommendations and communicate the final infrastructure strategy to AWS executive leadership. This role focuses on launch footprint, expected data centre demand and capacity utilization, networking topology, utility infrastructure delivery and overall project cost. This role necessitates fast-paced decision-making and driving highly impactful strategic workflows between multiple cross-functional teams including data centre operations, networking, hardware engineering, capacity planning, design engineering, supply chain, energy, water, procurement, legal, real estate and construction.
You will work across the organization to develop infrastructure deployment options whilst meeting our standards on safety, security, availability and cost efficiency.
Our Senior New Regions Planning Managers think strategically and Think Big, but have excellent tactical execution skills needed to hit project milestones. They engage with, present to and influence senior stakeholders and are results oriented. They work in capex/opex financial planning.Key job responsibilities
In this role you will;
1) Driving due diligence in the country – spanning real estate, utilities (water and power), network, security, HR, legal, tax and public policy, selecting metro/sites and having a robust view of risk and opportunities to be factored in when planning and building an AWS region.
2) Establishing a compliant infrastructure strategy and operating model in new countries or geographies.
3) Driving cost estimates for new AWS regions spanning all aspects of infrastructure and driving long term financials and P&L statements.
4) Communicating to AWS executive leadership on status/progress of new regions, and presenting infrastructure plans for review and approval, to drive long-term multi-billion-dollar investment decisions.
5) Engaging with customers, sales and internal teams to influence them towards infrastructure solutions that can best serve their needs.
6) Identifying patterns from previous deployments to improve our processes and planning accuracy and creating economic frameworks for different kinds of infrastructure solutions.About the team

– Experience bridging technical and business teams to collect and refine requirements, prioritize incoming work requests, and ensure all committed work is delivered on time
– 7+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS– Experience in technical product management, program management or engineering
– Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
– History with cloud infrastructure, data centre program/project management.
– Knowledge of data centre technical engineering requirements.
