Royal Mail Sheffield, S98 6HRWe have a vacancy for a Senior Payroll Administrator to join our Pensions Team, to ensure that a professional and efficient pensioner payroll service is provided to members of the Royal Mail Collective Pension Plan, in accordance with the service contracts with Trustee, legislation and agreed pensions business processes.This role requires deep technical payroll knowledge along with an understanding about both pensions in Royal Mail, but also the wider UK pensions framework.This is a Hybrid Working Role with travel to HR Services- Sheffield 2/3 times per week.About the roleYou will support the Team Leader with the review and sign off for each payroll run to ensure accurate and timely payment of pension benefits to Plan members.Provide support to the Team Leader with the effective planning of casework and annual projects in accordance with RMG’s contractual obligations and service level agreements and work closely with Payroll Administrators to approve payroll calculations and review and validate member record changes.Have specific responsibility for resolving complex cases and coaching payroll and pensions administrators on key learning points to enable them to resolve any similar future cases.Act as an escalation point for member queries and complaints relevant to the Payroll team and ensure compliance with the relevant payroll and pensions processes.Coach administrators to address in-process errors to prevent recurrence, both in the payroll team and the wider Pension Service Centre and ensure safe systems of work.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and attributes.

  • Demonstrable experience as an experienced, professional payroll practitioner, with a strong understanding of Payroll and HMRC rules and regulations
  • Experience of developing, leading and motivating a team and delivering a professional, customer focused service within a structured, regulated commercial framework
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to engage effectively at all levels, both internal and external to RMG
  • Demonstrably strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to assimilate complex information and translate into easily understandable language
  • Proven planning and organisational skills, including experience of delivering to demanding timescales and working flexibly to ensure that stakeholder and customer requirements are met
  • Proven exponent of Service improvement tools & techniques, with a track record of challenging the ‘status quo’ leading to the delivery of both transformational and incremental change
  • English Language and Mathematics at GCSE / A Level
  • Possess or be willing to study for a professional payroll qualification via a Workplace Pensions Apprenticeship scheme
  • Desirable professional pensions qualification (e.g., Certificate / Advanced Diploma in Pensions Administration; PMI Award in Pensions Essentials; QPA etc)
