OverviewGBS-Buck is looking for a dedicated and ambitious Senior Pension Actuarial Analyst to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative team that provides flawless actuarial services and consultancy to a diverse range of clients. How you’ll make an impact

  • Acting as an actuarial and consulting assistant for a portfolio of clients, ensuring flawless execution of all tasks.
  • Handling the preparation of valuations and cost estimates with outstanding accuracy.
  • Undertaking and supervising accounting disclosures (FRS17, IAS19, and USGAAP) to meet the highest standards.
  • Coordinating data collection, including editing and testing data received from clients, to ensure data integrity.
  • Undertaking and checking all aspects of actuarial work associated with pension schemes to deliver world-class service.
  • Preparing letters, reports, and other client materials that strictly adhere to professional standards.
  • Assisting in developing administrative procedures and forms used by clients to streamline operations.
  • Checking day-to-day individual calculations as requested to provide flawless support.
  • Participating in Buck internal projects, handling special projects or assignments as needed to drive company success.
  • Assisting scheme consultants with the consultancy aspects of pension schemes, providing proven expertise.
  • Establishing strong working relationships with clients to ensure long-term success and client delight.
  • Preparing for and attending client meetings to present findings and recommendations professionally.
  • Providing leadership, feedback, and training to actuarial analysts to cultivate a collaborative and knowledgeable team.
  • Building up consulting knowledge on actuarial and non-actuarial aspects of pension plans to stay competitive in the field.
  • On qualification, progressing towards acquiring a Scheme Actuary certificate and holding responsibility for a portfolio of clients, acting as a client manager for a number of these.
  • Peer reviewing and ensuring own work is peer-reviewed as appropriate to maintain high standards.
  • Maintaining accurate time recording and charging to clients where applicable to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Staying abreast with applicable regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with the latest standards.
  • Adhering to Corporate Policies and Procedures (CCPs) to maintain consistent organizational practices.
  • Reporting any suspected breaches to management/compliance department upon discovery to uphold the integrity of our operations.

About You

  • Substantial experience within the pensions actuarial environment, demonstrating proven expertise.
  • An all-round communicator who can articulate complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Skilled in coordinating, prioritizing, and completing tasks within designated timeframes to achieve outstanding outcomes.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills to handle detailed actuarial work with precision.
  • Proactive and someone who excels in a collaborative environment as a great teammate.
  • Attention to detail to ensure the highest level of accuracy in all tasks.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in relevant software and tools.
  • Good numerical/mathematics-based degree that provides a strong foundation for actuarial work.
  • Good progress through the actuarial exams, generally having completed CT exams and CA1, showcasing dedication and determination in the field.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
