Job Description:Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster, and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity, and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.Reporting to the Manager, Operations Performance, our GO Expansion & Transformation Office is looking for a Senior Performance Advisor to support continuous improvement for the GO Rail and GO Bus Services and monitor the performance of the GO Transit rail system.What will I be doing?

• Monitor special service and plan effectiveness.
• Investigate operating problems by collaborating with contract operators to determine basic causes, recommend remedial action and practical preventative actions.
• Develop and provide management with service performance reports (e.g. on-time performance, and analysis of delay trends) to identify negative trends and improvement concerning types of delay, specific train delays and corridor problems.
• Analyze performance of GO Rail and GO Bus relating to schedule adherence and operational performance targets.
• Monitor trends of rail and bus activity over all subdivisions to predict impacts on current and proposed schedules and related budgets.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

• Completion of a degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics Engineering, Economics, or related field – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years’ progressive experience in conducting quantitative analysis and development of dashboards/reports. Experience gathering, tracking, and analyzing data.
• Knowledge of information systems to collect, extract data and present data in audience appropriate digestible format (example: creating and maintaining reports, digital dashboards). Analytical skills to investigate operating issues and recommend solutions.
• Experience in extracting data from relational databases (using SQL) and applying a working knowledge of machine learning (training regression, classification and time-series forecasting models to analyze, categorize and forecast service change impacts) would be considered an asset.
• Knowledge of integrating large and disparate datasets using programming skills such as R and/or Python and writes VBA macros would be considered an asset.
