Job summary

This is a key Project / Change Delivery leadership role, where you will align your ways of working to the Government Project Delivery Function, using the Government Functional Standard for Project Delivery (002) and IPA Project Delivery Toolkit as your benchmark for success.

You will also champion the Project Delivery profession across the organisation and ensuring successful delivery of the project’s objectives. You will be an integral part of the P3M function and contribute positively to the Agency in accordance with our values and behaviours, and the behavioural competencies of the Government Project Delivery Profession

Job description

You will need to hold a recognised PPM practitioner certification i.e. APM practitioner qual (describable Chartered Project Professional), PRINCE2 or equivalent. You will need to demonstrate a considerable depth and breadth of experience in leading and delivering medium complexity business change projects in the public sector. 

Person specification

You will need to have experience and knowledge in the following:

  • Applying different methodologies to project delivery (waterfall / agile / hybrid), applying the DDaT perspective where necessary, GDS Service Manual and Standard, and the Government Functional Standard for Project Delivery (002).
  • Establishing governance frameworks for a range of business change projects, including defining roles and responsibilities, accountabilities, controls, and approval routes appropriate to each stage of a project to monitor progress and compliance.
  • Leading how financial budgets and resources are managed in the context of moderate complexity change project, including how resources should be allocated to optimise return on investment, and providing decision-making on when activity should be stopped, started, or continued to best support successful delivery of programme objectives.
  • Effective RAID management.
  • Tracking and managing benefit profiles/framework across a medium complexity change project
