Camps are a collaborative effort between various departments in the Faculty of Science and provide an enriching experience for local youth.Position SummarySenior Camp Leaders will be required to supervise campers (children in grades 1-9), other leaders, organize and purchase camp supplies, assist with camp planning and organization, assist with high-risk demonstrations and equipment, and speak with parents and guardians. Senior leaders are also responsible for assisting with sign-in or out every day and other supervisory needs.Duties

  • Supervises a group of campers, as well as provides oversight for Day Camp Leaders
  • Organizes and purchases camp supplies
  • Assists with camp planning and organization
  • Assists with high-risk demonstrations and equipment
  • Speaks with parents and guardians
  • Responsible for assisting with sign-in or out every day and other supervisory needs
  • Delivers First Aid to students if required
  • Evaluates successes and areas for improvement
  • Makes recommendations for the future direction of the program

Qualifications

  • We are looking for enthusiastic, creative, caring, mature, and conscientious university students (ideally continuing in Fall 2025), preferably with strong experience mentoring young people and designing and delivering education programs. Coursework in Education, Science, or Engineering should be combined with an interest in teaching children
  • A criminal record check for working with minors will be required before the position begins
  • First aid training will be provided and is required for the position
