In this senior role as a Software Development Engineer, you will own our in house services as a lead engineer, acting as a software architect and hands on builder. Your internal customers are your network engineer colleagues, and through close collaboration, support and exchange of ideas, you will define and deliver a product roadmap. Key job responsibilities
What you’ll be working on:

• You will lead both independent projects and projects that require the work of multiple engineers
• Software lifecycle management including road map definition, breakdown of work and taking ownership of delivery
• Continuous process improvement, implementing engineering best practices and coaching other engineers to insist on the highest standards from our team
• Customer engagement and stakeholder management including documentation and written status reporting
• Supporting our software through a shared on-call rota

– Experience leading development of software systems using Python, including designing solutions and architecting code from scratch
– A history of applying continuous improvement and implementing software engineering best practices across the full software development lifecycle – from roadmap inception to software release and support
– Expertise in coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operationsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS– A degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics or a related field
– Expertise in other languages and technologies
– Experience designing, developing or operating cloud services running on AWS or another cloud platform
– Experience in a technical on-call capacity, responding to customer impacting events, mitigating and root cause analysis of those events
– Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (host networking, storage, *nix operating systems)Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
