We thank you for your interest in our roles and would encourage you to review our vacancies which are open to all.This role has a starting salary of £35,730 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week.We are excited to be hiring a new Senior Youth Engagement Officer to join Surrey Fire & Rescue Service’s fantastic Youth Engagement Team based in at Woodhatch Place in Reigate. This role is open to hybrid working and as a team we split our time between working from home and collaborating together in the office.This is a secondment opportunity until August 2025, with potential extension until August 2026.Rewards and Benefits

As a Senior Youth Engagement Officer, you will lead and develop youth engagement programmes, including our RISE programme (Resilience, Inspire, Skills, Empower) making a real impact by working with young people at risk of exclusion from education.This is a very varied and highly rewarding role, where you will have genuine social impact. On a day to day basis you will be involved in:

• Leading the planning, delivery and evaluation of RISE, our youth engagement programme, in line with the NFCC Early Intervention framework and The King’s Trust accreditation requirements
• Working with schools, youth services, and other agencies to identify and support young people at risk
• Overseeing the Firewise programme, engaging with children and young people who have shown fire-setting behaviours
• Ensuring safeguarding and health and safety policies are followed at all times
• Supporting young people in achieving a qualification and improving their life opportunities

Shortlisting CriteriaWe welcome applicants with transferable skills and experience in youth work, teaching, or early intervention settings.To be considered for shortlisting for this position your CV and answers to the questions below will clearly evidence:

• Ability to lead and coordinate teams delivering youth engagement programmes
• Experience working with young people in youth work or educational settings
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with young people, families, and partners
• Understanding of trauma-informed, restorative, and pro-social approaches in youth work
• Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office 365, databases, and spreadsheets
