Students will develop skills in writing for museum exhibitions and publications, reviews and criticism, academic analysis, and writing for popular print and media. Regular and frequent writing assignments. Recommended for FAH majors and specialists.Estimated Course Enrolment: 50 studentsEstimated TA Support (based on full course enrolment): 56 hoursClass Schedule: Mondays 2:00-4:00 pm (In Person)*Please note, the delivery method for this course is currently In Person. In keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department.Sessional dates of appointment: January 6, 2025 to April 30, 2025; Final Assessment period April 9-30, 2025.Please note: This position includes the completion of any course work and marking not finished by April 30, 2025.Salary:

  • Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term $10,570.02

  • MA in Art History or a related field is required; PhD in Art History is strongly preferred.
  • Teaching, writing, and communication skills in the history of art are required.
  • Demonstrated experience in the variety of writing genres and styles associated with art history, including museum exhibitions, publications, reviews, criticism, academic analysis, popular print and media.
  • At least two years’ experience creating and marking undergraduate writing assignments, exercises, and/or undergraduate essays in art history or a related field.
  • Training in education would be an asset.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience in this or a similar course at the university level.

Description of duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including: preparing and delivering one 2-hour lecture per week and/or leading classroom discussions during the 2 contact hours each week; developing and publishing the syllabus and marking scheme through Quercus; supervision of teaching assistants; preparing relevant assignments for student assessment, and (if applicable) setting and invigilating term tests and final examination / assignments for student assessment; grading and reporting of final grades; maintaining office hours for academic counseling of students; answer queries by email or appointment.Application Instructions: All individuals interested in this position must submit (1) a curriculum vitae, and (2) the to the Department via the .
