Software Engineer
Cathcart Associates
Scottish Software Company, based in Edinburgh, are looking to grow their existing Development team with the addition of two more Software Engineers to work on their core products (Python and NodeJS). They’ve got a great culture and amazing work to life balance, where you can work pretty much fully remote and have a 4 DAY WORKING WEEK.They’ve been running for 10+ years now and have incredibly strong staff retention; the majority of the Development team have been with the business for several years. They’re looking to grow their team as they’re currently expanding their product offerings and are keen to make sure the team can accommodate the work. You’d be joining an Agile team of roughly 6 Software Engineers and will find yourself working across two different products (or focusing more so on one of them). The products are enterprise level and work to a national scale, they’re designed to help illustrate and evaluate infrastructure for specific models of transport. Their flagship product is currently used throughout the UK and have recently started development on another product that they see lots of potential within.Their main product is written in Python (using the flask framework) and hosted on AWS with a Microservices architecture, and VueJS + TypeScript front-end. The other product is written in NodeJS + TypeScript with an Angular front-end. Experience with all of these would be great, but they’re pretty flexible when it comes to technology, they’re just looking for someone with a good background in Python or NodeJS. Equally as important to tech fit, they’re looking for Engineers with strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently on problems and a creative mindset as you’ll be encouraged to suggest new features and technologies. You’ll ideally have experience with the following;** Python Frameworks (Django, Flask, Ninja)** Non-Relational Databases** Software Testing** Prior experience working in a product environmentExperience with the following is highly desirable;** Cloud Services (Ideally AWS)** JavaScript frameworks (VueJS, NodeJS, Angular)** TypeScriptThis is genuinely a unique opportunity as the Hiring Manager has mentioned it’s a really creative environment, as “Engineers have a lot of power here, they can help build things how they want”. So if you’re looking to join an organisation where you can have some form of creative freedom and actively listened to, this could be the ideal role for you.Their offices are based in Edinburgh where they accommodate both hybrid and largely remote. They do meet-ups once a month in the office, but aside from that it’s your choice how often you’d like to pop – they’re very flexible. In addition, they have a 4-day work week, you’ll usually work Monday – Thursday (roughly 9AM – 5PM) and will have every Friday off. It’s something the company have been doing for a few years now and it’s extremely popular. In return, they’re able to offer a salary from £40k to £60k depending on experience (and ability) on top of their benefits package. If you’re keen to find out more, please apply or drop Douglas Paget a message via linkedin for an informal chat.Skills
