We’re looking for a talented engineer to join and us design, develop, and support cutting-edge software used by some of the UK’s most recognisable blue-chip and household-name clients.Based in Sheffield, you’ll join a collaborative, distributed development team in the UK and India.You’ll contribute to full lifecycle development – from interpreting high-level and detailed specifications to delivering robust, scalable solutions. You’ll also have the opportunity to get hands-on with client-facing support and occasional UK travel, with some out-of-hours support when required.QualificationsWhat are we looking for?
- A degree in a technology or computer science discipline
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in software development
- Strong experience with any 3GL or 4GL programming language (experience with Uniface is a big plus – full training will be provided)
- Confidence working in a small team environment and engaging with customers regularly
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to try new approaches and suggest improvements
- Flexibility in working hours
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good self-management skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team
- A solid understanding of the software development lifecycle
It would be a bonus if you had:
- Previous experience working on financial services software
- Familiarity with JIRA – although full training is available
- Experience working with Oracle or MS/SQL databases
