As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer, Business & Core Banking (CBC)-Global Customer Platform(GCP), we look first and foremost for people who are passionate around solving business problems through innovation and engineering practices. You’ll be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, as well as partner continuously with your many stakeholders on a daily basis to stay focused on common goals.

Needs to partner with different application teams throughout the life cycle to understand their application infrastructure and monitoring and apply GCP Site Reliability Principles, this requires direct contact with application teams. Excellent communication and ability to build and maintain the relationship is essential.  As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements resiliency test frameworks to verify and measure the stability of the application services
  • Knowledge in Chaos Engineering, Resiliency patterns, Self-healing, Performance Testing
  • Experience in Chaos testing using industry standard tools like Gremlin, Chaos Monkey.
  • Understanding of application monitoring stack (Logs, Events Metrics & Alerts) and ability to visualize and setup end-to-end observability (Infrastructure and Application components).
  • Using industry standard monitoring tools (Dynatrace, APICA, Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana etc.) develop and maintain dashboards, alerting, reporting.
  • Provide technical assistance to improve system availability, capacity, reliability and scalability.
  • Reviews for continuous improvements in resiliency test engineering controls and review test artifacts on regular basis
  • Technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build automation based solutions or breakdown technical problems
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Proficient in principles of Site Reliability Engineering and operational stability
  • Hands on experience in one of programming languages (Java, Python, Scripting)
  • Knowledge of Web Services – SOAP, REST
  • Understanding on Java-Spring microservices application infrastructure and its deployment model
  • Experience of supporting using APM tools and monitoring dashboards in a large corporate environment like banking and finance..
  • Overall knowledge of the Agile Development Methodologies
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Knowledge in cloud platforms (Kubernetes, CloudFoundry-PCF preferable).

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Experience into Resiliency and Chaos testing using tools like Gremlin, Chaos Monkey.
  • Understanding on java-spring based microservices application infrastructure and its deployment model
  • Knowledge in cloud platforms (Kubernetes, CloudFoundry-PCF preferable).
