Job description
Role Title: Software Engineer – JavaLocation: London (Hybrid)What will you do?As a Software Engineer at Royal Mail Group, you will be responsible for delivering highly efficient software solutions into a complex IT estate. Preparing and producing releases of software components to support EPS systems, you will work with standard software development lifecycles and the RMG programme lifecycle framework assurance of supplier solutions to ensure compliance with requirements and procurements.Working with senior developers and others you will deliver high-quality technical solutions to business problems as part of a team development effort. Identify technologies to employ as appropriate, and take responsibility for delivery of reliable, maintainable code as part of the ongoing delivery process.What skills and experience should you have?Excellent Java knowledge, with significant commercial experience in Java 11 and beyond.Strong OOP knowledge.TDD, Mocking and CI / CD knowledge and experience.Experience implementing REST APIs, using JSON or XML.Good SQL knowledge.Good knowledge and experience with source control systems (preferably Git).Able to bring the experience and ideas that will help the Royal Mail deliver large scale modernisation programmes.A confident communicator – verbally and in code.Committed to the values of software craftsmanship.Identification of improvement opportunities.Ability to adapt and innovate.Experience of working in agile projects using Scrum and Kanban.A capable generalist with a holistic approach to engineering challenges.Nice to haveSpringBoot knowledge and experienceCloud deployments with Azure and/or Google CloudPractical DevOps experienceWhat we offer you…
