The ITS Corporate Digital Engagement (ITSCD) is a unit within the ITS Corporate Solutions department (ITSCO) that delivers cutting-edge information and technology applications to enhance intranet and communications for staff, external audiences, donors, member countries, and other key stakeholders. Focusing on modernizing the Bank’s digital engagement, ITSCD collaborates with clients to design solutions that enhance client responsiveness, boost organizational effectiveness, and manage risks. Additionally, the unit provides technology solutions that streamline end-to-end budgeting processes and support cost allocation management. 

The ITS Corporate Digital Engagement (ITSCD) unit is looking for a Solutions Architect to design and manage solutions, which support the World Bank’s intranet. The individual will function as a technical SME for the intranet and will work as one of the lead engineers for the development team. They will work with various stakeholders – at HQ (Washington, DC) and Bulgaria – including Information Security, Enterprise architecture, and Quality Assurance to enable solutions for unified content management and communications tools that broadcast critical information with WBG internal audiences.

This position requires work on the night shift (4 pm to 12:30 am IST) to ensure that there is overlap with colleagues from HQ.

Responsibilities:

  • •Design and implement effective and scalable enterprise solutions.
  • •Lead the design and development effort, including delegation of work to team members and oversight, ensuring alignment with solution’s architectural vision and guidelines laid out.
  • •Serves as a technical SME and mentor team members and developers during the development life cycle, proactively provide guidance on engineering methodologies, standards, and leading practices and strengthen controls.
  • •Responsible for code quality assurance, develop and implement related process, standards, and guidelines and ensure adherence/compliance to the same.
  • •Collaborate with visual and usability designers for integrating visual and functional aspects to create best-in-class solutions.
  • •Analyze, design, develop, code, configure and test solutions by working with the product owner and the business units
  • •Participate in the functional and technical analysis for new requirements and modifications to the existing systems
  • •Contribute to strategic planning, provide guidance and expertise on technical solutions, risks, and impacts.
  • •Define platform’s non-functional goals/SLAs (maintainability, configurability, deployment ease, automation, scalability, disaster recovery, security, and support needs) and incorporate them in the design.
  • •Manage agile development practices and DevOps for secured and accelerated time to market releases.
  • •Research and adopt new technologies to add value to existing offerings. Provide inputs on technical requirements for RFPs and help in evaluating COTS solutions.
  • •Install system updates to address vulnerabilities and reduce security issues. Investigate system issues and implement resolutions to reduce downtime.
  • •Work with Enterprise Architecture (EA) and the Office of Information Security (OIS) for accreditation related activities and Change Advisory Board (CAB) for coordinating deployments.
  • •Work closely with Infrastructure teams e.g., Cloud, Windows, Web Administration, Network Operations, Infrastructure Platforms, Mobility, Database, Security Administration to define deployment architecture and capacity planning for any new environment/Landscape and any critical issue resolution.
  • •Coordinate with vendor partners in sourcing and managing resources.
  • •Actively monitor client needs, industry trends, Bank priorities, KPIs, feedback, and backlog.

Selection Criteria:

  • •Master’s degree in Computer science, or relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • •5+ years of experience working as a software engineer in a large enterprise environment.
  • •Minimum of 5 years of experience developing enterprise systems with Microsoft 365 solutions, more specifically SharePoint online.
  • •Minimum of 5 years of experience working in web-based technologies such as HTML 5, JavaScript, AJAX, and CSS frameworks
  • •3+ years’ experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL, KeyVault, Storage Account, App Services, Azure Data Factory, Azure API Management, and Container Apps
  • •3+ years of .NET software development experience
  • •Hands on experience in developing full-stack software applications, utilizing front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, or equivalent technologies.
  • •Experience developing restful web services and web APIs.
  • •Proficiency in SharePoint development tools and technologies (e.g., PowerShell, .Net, JavaScript, SPFx)
  • •Strong knowledge of database design and SQL
  • •Proven ability to collaborate with other team members across boundaries and contribute productively to the team’s work and output, demonstrating respect for different points of view.
  • •Able to use strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to cultivate effective, productive client relationships and partnerships across organizational boundaries.
  • •Able to take personal responsibility and accountability for timely response to client queries, requests, or needs, working to remove obstacles that may impede execution or overall success.
  • •Able to take personal ownership and accountability to meet deadlines and achieve agreed-upon results and has the personal organization to do so.
