Are you interested in getting exposure to a broad range of technology and enterprise tools within a distributed global network? We are #hiring a Sr. Network Specialist for our Calgary head office. If you are a collaborative team player and relationship builder with an interest in working across global stakeholder groups to communicate risk and move initiatives forward, we want to hear from you!You will manage and support Vermilion’s corporate network globally. As an outcome focused, critical thinker, you will drive continuous improvement across our IT operations, stay abreast of industry trends and changes, and make recommendations as required. You will join a team that values its people and provides work with purpose.What you will doMonitor and support our corporate IT and OT Network Operations with a focus on firewalls, routing, switching, and wireless technologiesDesign and implement / configure new network technology solutions and network expansionsEnsure the highest level of network availability by proactively responding to alerts and identifying and remediating performance bottlenecksMonitor, investigate, and respond to relevant network incidents within the IT and OT environmentsWork with ISP’s and other third-party vendors as needed to resolve network performance issues and coordinate on any adds / moves / changes related to our network environmentProvide senior level technical network support to end-users and other members of the IT / IS department as needed and provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the teamProvide senior level technical support to complex projects to meet operational effectiveness and corporate service standardsIdentify opportunities to improve efficiencies within the network environment, both through technology and support processesDocument architecture and configurations to help with knowledge transfer and cross-training with other members of the infrastructure team and the IT departmentParticipate in the development of technical road mapsEnsure documented plans, methodologies, and architecture models exist and are communicated to the global IT staffEnsure that Network changes follow our internal IT change management processEstablish, implement, and monitor relevant network standards to support our global business unit modelWhat you will bringExpert level knowledge and experience supporting PaloAlto firewalls and Cisco routing and switching technologies (e.g. Catalyst, Nexus, etc.)Minimum 10 years’ experience as a network support professional in a technically complex, distributed environmentExpert level knowledge and experience with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and LAN wireless technology (e.g. Meraki)Advanced knowledge and experience with network monitoring solutions (e.g. Solarwinds)Experience supporting a highly distributed global network environmentStrong knowledge of Network security standards, frameworks and best practices (e.g. NIST, Purdue Model, Zero Trust etc.)Experience with Azure, AWS networking, and Fortinet firewalls is considered an assetStrong project management skills and / or substantial exposure to project-based work structuresA Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, related discipline or equivalent experienceIndustry certifications are considered an asset (CCNP, CCIE, PCNSA, PCNSE, CISSP etc.)Demonstrated ability to problem solve and see the big picture including business goals, requirements, and expectationsExcellent communication skills with the ability to clarify complexitiesOther Key DetailsDue to the nature of this role, some after-hours work and travel will be requiredThe successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record checkWhat we offerHybrid work environment supporting work-life balanceIndustry-competitive time off including vacation, flex days and office closures such as Friday afternoons during the summerCasual yet professional office environment with a relaxed dress codeOpportunities to connect with others, including weekly company-provided breakfastCompetitive short-term and long-term incentive programs aimed to recognize and rewardTop-tier benefits program, including a generous flexible health spending account and savings plan programOnsite childcare available (fee-based)Company-sponsored volunteer opportunities and volunteer grantsWhy you’ll love working with usWe care for each other, the environment and the company, and aim to enrich the communities in which we live and workWe are recognized by Great Place to Work Institute® as a Best Workplace® in many of our locations around the globeWe embrace new solutions across the business, allow space for creativity, and invest in innovation and technologyWe operate with honesty, transparency and fairness, and can be counted on to do what we say we willWe invest in our employees, providing meaningful work and opportunities for training and professional developmentWe are recognized as a leader in sustainability by independent ESG rating agenciesWe are focused on the future: responsibly producing the oil and natural gas that is essential to energy security while exploring alternative energy optionsVermilion is committed to diversity and inclusion, and aims to create a healthy, accessible and rewarding work environment that highlights our employees’ unique contributions to our company’s success.
