Health Promotion Fife is looking for a full time Stop Smoking Advisor to support the delivery of the H&SC Partnership’s Smoking Cessation Local Delivery Plan Target for 2023/24.The Stop Smoking Service contributes towards improving the health of the local population in line with national and local stop smoking strategies and policy.The post holder will work closely with the Tobacco Lead in the delivery of targeted stop smoking interventions, use community engagement approaches, undertake awareness raising initiatives and to support referral opportunities to the Stop Smoking Service.The postholder will have particular responsibility for:

  • Delivery of evidence based stop smoking interventions across Fife, ensuring that the work targets people/families living in deprived circumstances and specific groups in a range of settings for example communities, primary care, workplaces etc
  • Increasing engagement at community level within the most deprived communities and inequalities groups
  • Undertaking client assessments, make appropriate pharmacotherapy decisions, ongoing client support and undertake 4 and 12 week follow-ups.

You will require to demonstrate effective engagement strategies and approaches with special interest and hard to reach groups that support referrals to services. You will have current experience of delivering evidence based stop smoking interventions. You will be required to demonstrate your understanding on inequalities in health and how this relates to tobacco smoking.You should have a relevant professional or academic qualification or have significant experience in stop smoking support delivered on a one to one and group basis. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
