We are looking to hire a Supervisor, Financial Control-Metrolinx Projects.What You Will DoAs the Supervisor, Financial Control-Metrolinx Projects, you will be responsible for providing financial planning, management and analysis of costs and related cost recoveries for a portfolio of Metrolinx led Transit Expansion initiatives. This includes overseeing the work of Cost Control Analysts and ensuring accurate tracking of costs against approved initiatives with billings and issue resolution completed in a timely manner.You will be responsible for leading the establishment and maintenance of the process, forms and report formats to support cost recovery, from initial work authorization to final invoicing and collection. You will develop and maintain comprehensive processes and systems to accurately and efficiently track expenditures and recoveries and investigate opportunities for improvements. This includes analyzing actual results to ensure captured costs are valid and complete.You will be responsible to communicate with management, and other key stakeholders on findings, major issues, proposed changes, and progress, providing specialist expertise, consultative advice, and guidance as required. In addition, you will be leading and completing regular financial reporting to the manager and senior management team.In addition to the above, you will promote a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination. - Completion of a post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
- CPA, MBA or equivalent recognized designation is preferred
- Demonstrated work experience with SAP and time and cost systems (eTime, CMS) is preferred
- Prior work experience in a directly related field where detailed knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis methods and procedures are important
- Experience in the preparation of budgetary reporting and financial analysis for a managerial audience
- Demonstrated experience with cost control and audit principles, methods, practices, performance measures.
- Working knowledge of and experience with Public Sector Accounting Standards is an asset
- Working experience with major capital delivery programs and engineering & construction environment and practices, is an asset;
- Working knowledge of and experience with major third party service provider contracts is an asset
- Requires a sound knowledge of standard accounting and budgeting principles, methods
- Experience in managing and leading a diverse team
- Must possess proven research, analytical and problem solving skills
- Must possess excellent strategic, lateral thinking, planning, analytical, and problem solving skills with the capacity to effectively plan, develop, implement and evaluate complex administrative and operating systems
- General systems and spreadsheet capabilities are essential, including demonstrated competency with SAP, PowerPoint Excel, and Word
- Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing reports and delivering presentations with complex technical information to senior leadership teams
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work while meeting stringent deadlines.
- Must possess ability to manage competing priorities and demands in a rapidly changing environment. Must have, or rapidly acquire, a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
