As a leader, you are responsible for managing a team of finance professionals who support and maintain our financial systems, ensure the efficient operation of financial systems, and provide exceptional support to internal stakeholders.This plays a critical role in optimizing financial processes and contributing to the company’s financial success.WHAT YOU WILL DOLead the Financial Systems Support team, set clear expectations, provide guidance and feedback, and motivate the team to achieve their best performanceCo-ordinating business systems support for the finance function and ensuring that emerging issues are addressed in a timely and effective way to maintain the integrity of financial data and systemsCo-ordinating activities and developing cutover plans relevant to the integration of new business transactions or reorganizations into TransAlta’s financial systemsProvide support to the Sr. Manager in the discharging of due diligence in possible system changes resulting from reorganizational activityCollaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and optimize financial processes.Provide end-user support and training on financial systems and tools when issues ariseEnsure data integrity and accuracy in financial systemsStay current with industry best practices and emerging trends in financial systemsUpholding high ethical standards in all accounting practices to ensure the credibility of TransAlta’s financial informationWHAT WE NEED FROM YOUBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; and a professional accounting designation is required (i.e. CPA)5-7 years of broad finance ERP support experience, preferably with SAP, and prior integration or conversion experience with new ERP or reorganizationsDemonstrated progressive responsibility in a supervisory or team lead role, with the ability to lead meetings and a history of planning and executing successful projectsMinimum of 5 years of experience within a systems Center of Excellence or Systems Support Group with a focus on financial systems with extensive knowledge of all financial processesDemonstrated understanding of Database structures and familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley regulationsStrong knowledge of business processes in at least three financial business areas, and at least working knowledge of the remainder. GL, AP, AR, Treasury, Capital Assets, and Financial ReportingAdvanced Excel, data analysis, and familiarity with BI and workflows.Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and determine acceptable solutionsExcellent communication skills, with an ability to process information quickly and communicate in a clear and concise manner to internal and external stakeholdersExceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills and ability to develop innovative solutionsA keen eye for detail to ensure errors are prevented, ensure compliance, and maintain the integrity of financial dataAbility to read and interpret agreements in the context of required processesAbility to work independently and prioritize tasks to produce results within agreed-upon deadlines in an everchanging and fast-paced work environmentLead by example and foster a positive and collaborative work environment while understanding the team’s strengths, weaknesses, and needsAbility to guide the team’s professional growth through mentorship, coaching, and training opportunitiesWe offer our employees comprehensive and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, annual incentives, and a rewards program.
