We hold a ‘Gold Investor in People’ award for continuously developing and rewarding our employees, offering excellent career potential.Purpose of the roleColas Ltd. have an exciting opportunity for a Surfacing Supervisor to join the Surfacing team based in Speke, L24 9JT, covering the North West. Reporting to the Surfacing Manager, you will be involved in the efficient delivery of all secured contracts ensuring management of Key Client expectations / contracts whilst ensuring the compliance with all Quality procedures and safe working practices.Main ResponsibilitiesAs a Surfacing Supervisor your main purpose will be to be responsible for the delivery of all activities within the surfacing department. Your duties as a Surfacing Supervisor will include but not be limited to the following: you will ensure all schemes have the relevant pre scheme site specific checks carried out prior to arriving on site, you will allocate resources and plant to schemes in line with the build ups provided by the Operations Manager and produce and manage weekly programmes for all labour and plant. In this role you will be expected to carry out and encourage Toolbox talks through the whole team, record all tool box talks delivered on the Share drive registers and ensure all operatives have the correct PPE available at all times, all PPE distributed must be recorded and the PPE registers updated, Foreman and Sub agents to carry PPE in the vehicles to allow for emergencies. As a Surfacing Supervisor you will be required to carry out investigation meetings including for any potential disciplinary issues. You will ensure all materials are booked and correct in line with the scheme specification and build ups provided by the Surfacing Manager and ensure all plant defects are reported to the P&T department, any defects not being rectified must be escalated to the plant and transport manager. You will encourage Near Miss and MSO reporting through the Foreman and Sub agents, all Near Miss and MSO’s must be reported through the correct company procedure. Promote and encourage safety/environmental awareness in the business, encouraging a zero tolerance to unsafe acts and a zero target for LTIs and safety, environmental incident. Ensure the safe and efficient running of all contracts to budget with responsibility for the financial performance of contracts. Provision of excellent records allowing accurate forecasting, monthly/final accounting. Please note, you may be required to work occasional nights / weekends.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have an appropriate ONC/HNC/HND qualification in Construction / Civil Engineering. You must have a minimum of 2 years experience working in Surfacing and be able to provide good Engineering knowledge and understanding to all works ensuring compliance with all Industry Specifications and standards. You must hold a high level of experience in highway construction and maintenance.As a Surfacing Supervisor, you will need to be approachable and be able to work as a team be able to provide leadership, motivation and direction to all site personnel. A full clean driving licence is essential for this role.Package DescriptionHere at Colas, we offer a great total compensation package, including:
