We have an exciting opportunity for an Accident Records Clerk to work on a temporary basis until 31st March 2026.Key responsibilities:

  • Answer and respond to incoming correspondence.
  • Deal with and action incoming requests and payment.
  • Liaise with Police Officers and arrange interviews with solicitors/ insurance companies.
  • Work closely with legal services in accordance with force policy and guidelines.
  • Calculate the costs for the supply of information to solicitors/insurance companies in accordance with ACPO charging guidelines.
  • Must make accurate and consistent decisions on disclosure of collisions in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
  • Must prioritise workload on a daily basis to ensure relevant information is supplied to the Courts on time when requested.
  • Provide advice to Solicitors, Insurance companies, victims and witnesses regarding the progress of the requests and any other information that is required.
  • Must utilise a diary system to track ‘Consent’ forms, which are sent out to all individuals involved in an accident i.e., the victim, witnesses, Police Officer on duty etc.

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of Microsoft Word packages including Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of the Data Protection Act.
  • Previous Administration/ Clerical experience.

Eligibility:Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.
