As a Safety, Health & Wellbeing Department Trainer you will be responsible for the design and delivery of complex, extensive learning, and development (L&D) programmes, enabling the organisation to achieve its goals and individuals to fulfil their potential in accordance with the People Development strategy.The post holder should have an adult teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards the College of Policing Training Education Programme) (TEP). The post holder will be required to attend a two-week Train the Trainer Personal Safety defence course which will be delivered out of force. This course will provide the post holder with the skills, techniques and understanding to be able to deliver a range of comprehensive personal safety techniques to be able to deliver courses to both Police Officers and Operational Police Staff in line with force requirements.The post holder should hold or be willing to work towards a first aid at work certificate to be able to demonstrate experience as a first aid deliverer. The post holder will also be required to deliver first aid training to both Operational Officers and Police Staff in accordance with force requirements.The post is 37 hours per week based on a Monday to Friday working week with weekend working, and occasional evening work to support our Special Constabulary colleagues.Key Responsibilities:
- Use an evidence-based approach to identify learning needs and specify learning outcomes to inform the design and development of training.
- Design and develop learning programmes and sessions, consistent with the 70:20:10 model, identifying and incorporating training and learning methodologies that are capable of meeting individual and organisational learning needs with available resources and within specified timescales.
- Research, design, develop and maintain learning materials that enhance the learning and engage the learners.
- Foster and maintain a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment to enable learners’ engagement and participation.
- Determine an appropriate assessment strategy and conduct learner assessments, to evaluate and record prior learning and the achievement of VALUES.

Eligibility:Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.
