Nasittuq Corporation (from the Inuktitut word meaning “looking out from the highest point”) operates and maintains the North Warning System (NWS), a critical joint Canada-US radar network with 47 sites across Northern Canada.OUR CORE VALUES—Safety, Diversity, Integrity, Social Responsibility, Environmental Stewardship, and Agility—guide everything we do.SummaryReporting to Facilities Maintenance Manager, the System Maintenance Analysis Technician provides training, technical support and mentorship to the NWS technicians and implements an optimum maintenance program such that the reliability/availability delivered by the NWS equipment meets the customer’s satisfaction and standard as required to meet our contractual obligations.This position is covered under the provision of the collective agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) Local 2228.What You’ll Do
- Using experience and knowledge of building electrical, mechanical, HVAC, building structural systems, power generation systems, radar, and/or Communications and Electronics (C&E) systems, provide technical assistance to technicians.
- Provide Advance Maintenance Support (AMS), when required, draft reports, assign follow-ups and take necessary steps for resolution.
- Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on selected Facilities or C&E problems, draft reports, assign follow-ups and take necessary steps for resolution.
- Conduct System Maintenance Analysis (SMA) to verify that current maintenance practices are adequate for ongoing sustainment of the various systems, draft reports, assign follow-ups and take necessary steps for resolution.
Who You AreEducation:
- Completion of postsecondary program in one or more of the following: electromechanical systems, Electrical (309A) or Mechanical (310T-truck/coach – 310S automotive service) trades certifications, electronics systems certifications or CF military equivalent.
- Standard First Aid trained with CPR Level A (with valid certificate)
- Must already hold a Level II (Secret) Clearance or be eligible to obtain one. Approval of security clearance by the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate is a condition of employment.
- Possession and Acquisition licensee (PAL).
- Hold a valid class ‘G’ driver’s license, or provincial/territorial equivalent.
- Possession of Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) Technician certificate or be eligible to obtain one.
Experience:
- 7+ years experience in a technical role related to the contract (EMT, FMT) in an industrial setting; plus
- 5+ years of NWS experience in a technical role Maintenance Technician plus previous experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Previous experience on RF, satellite and radar systems is an asset.
Knowledge of:
- Demonstrated knowledge of building electrical, mechanical, diesel engines, HVAC, building structural systems, RF, satellite, radar, IP network systems and/or telecommunications systems with ability to read and interpret related drawings and manuals.
- Proficiency in the use of commercial test equipment and tools used in troubleshooting and repair of NWS systems.
- Must be familiar with safety regulations and practices.
- Possession of Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) Technician certificate would be considered an asset.
- Must be physically able to work in the remote locations in the north and fully carry out the physical aspects of the role.
