General Description:HRL is seeking a systems administrator experienced in Windows or Linux environments. The successful candidate will collaborate with other systems administrators located at various locations throughout the United States. A willingness to continue learning new technologies is a must. An active Top Secret/SCI clearance and experience in classified programs is required.
Essential Duties:Perform a multi-disciplined range of technical system and application activitiesInstall, configure, and maintain multiplatform systems hardware, software, and componentsAdminister and manage Windows and Linux systems in the operations, engineering, analysis, and test environmentsMaintain Windows systems comprised of servers and workstationsAdminister installation of software, hardware, file system management, backups, process control, user administration, and device managementResolve a wide variety of complex system failures, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problemsInstall, configure, and maintain Microsoft Active Directory domains and forestsPerform system and user account maintenanceTest and assess security configuration of Windows and Linux serversMonitor, evaluate, and optimize system performanceAnalyze, test, and implement security patches and hardeningDocument maintenance actionsDevelop and promote standard operating procedures and conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelinesIf required, assist in IT security incident response and documentationParticipate in internal & external security audits/inspections
Required Skills:A current Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is requiredMinimum 4 years of directly related experience in systems administration, network administration, or cyber securityDemonstrated experience in platform-specific systems administration (Windows or Linux)Understanding of multiplatform system hardening (e.g., DISA STIG, SCAP)Strong understanding of VMware vSphere virtual environmentsExperience with scripting for task automation (e.g., PowerShell, Batch, BASH)Proficient knowledge of cyber security technology and trends (e.g., Tenable, McAfee, Splunk)Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., switching, routing, firewalls, load balancing)Experience with system monitoring & alerting tools (e.g., Nagios)Experience with Risk Management Framework and working within an accredited systemAbility to work independentlyExperience in multiplatform systems administration (Windows and Linux) is desiredWindows Server 2016/2019/2022 configuration, management, and troubleshooting is desiredUnderstanding of Group Policy management is desiredExperience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (8, 9)Experience with SAN management (e.g., NetApp, Dell Unity) is desiredExperience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (i.e., Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops) is desiredExchange Server 2019 configuration, management, and troubleshooting is desiredExperience with systems management and automation software e.g., (Endpoint Configuration Manager, Satellite, Ansible, Systems Center Orchestrator) is desiredExperience with High Performance Computing is desired
Required Education:High School diploma/GED with 5+ years of experience in a System Administration role OR Associate degree in information technology, information security, computer science, or a related field with 4+ years of experience in a related roleDoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CISSP) within 6 months of hire
Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Special Requirements:This position is 100% on-site. Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, and in some cases, with little to no advance notice. This job will also require up to 15% travel.
This position requires that the applicant selected be a U.S. citizen and possess an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance. The applicant must also successfully complete a polygraph.
This position requires that the applicant obtain a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CISSP) within 6 months of hire.
As part of your role/function on the program, you will be granted privileged user access, which is subject to greater scrutiny as a direct result of the significant responsibilities. Please be aware that because of these critical duties, you will be subject to additional IT system monitoring and supervisory evaluation to ensure continuous adherence to Privileged User processes and procedures. Privileged Users are subject to a zero-tolerance policy for security violations.
Compensation:The base salary range for this full-time position is $109,695 – $137,145 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
