This role has a starting salary of £29,697 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract.

We are delighted to be hiring a new Technical Support Officer to join our fantastic Technical Support Team based at the Highways Depot in Guildford! The team are primarily office based so that we can assist on site, but flexible and hybrid working is supported where possible.

About the Team

The Highways and Transport Service is responsible for ensuring the effective management, maintenance and improvement of all highway and transport assets. The highway is the most?valuable asset?managed by Surrey County Council with a replacement value of approximately £7.5bn, and it is critical to the economic growth of the County. It is regarded by?Councillors?and residents as one of the most important services provided by the Council.

About the Role

This role sits within the Technical Support Team where we provide a central administrative and project support function to the wider team.

As a Technical Support Officer you’ll be at the heart of ensuring we always deliver an excellent service. On a day-to-day basis you will take on crucial business support duties which include purchasing and invoicing, business reporting, facilities and reception duties. You?will respond to?a high volume and wide range of requests,?supporting the wider teams to deliver the overall objectives of the service. Technical Support Officers are also the first point of contact for the public and visitors at a key county office, therefore it is important that you promote a positive first and lasting image of the County Council.

First and foremost, we’re looking for excellent customer service skills! This is key to the role and we need someone who can embrace this in their approach, ensuring that both they and the team put the customer at the heart of everything they do.

To be considered for shortlisting for this position your CV and answers to the questions below will clearly evidence:

  • Previous experience of?providing?administrative?functions
  • Ability to prioritise and plan own workload in the context of conflicting priorities
  • Customer focused approach and confident in dealing with and building a rapport with a wide selection of customers, striving for Customer Service Excellence?
  • A positive, self-motivated and tenacious attitude with a desire to learn
  • Good IT skills and proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
