At North York General, our team is making a world of difference.Position SummaryTechnical Support Specialist, Digital Health***This position is primarily focused on Network Infrastructure and Operations within North York General Hospital’s technical environment. Priority will be given to candidates who have technical, real-world experience maintaining and supporting network solutions. ***Your goal in this position is to provide excellent support and troubleshooting of technical issues. You will promote and facilitate the effective, efficient, secure and safe use of PCs and PC networks under the direction of the Manager, Information Services, and in a close and collaborative relationship with the staff of user departments. You will work co-operatively with peers to ensure that departmental systems are compatible with hospital Information Systems. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and familiesOn a practical level, you will

  • Install and support hospital approved desktop hardware and software and peripherals
  • Investigate and resolve help desk tickets assigned in timely, efficient and professional manner
  • Work with Microsoft enterprise desktop management tools such as Active Directory, Group Policies, Powershell, computer imaging and domain security groups.
  • Support the upgrade, configuration and management of network switches within the environment
  • Installation, configuration and support of VoIP phones.
  • Assist with the troubleshooting, configuration and resolution of network connectivity for PC and end point devices.
  • Consult, train and assist users of PCs and PC networks in a professional manner.
  • Make recommendations to the manager regarding the use of PC and network technology, and advise the planning of Digital Health strategy in relation to PC, PC applications and PC networks
  • Share on -call responsibility for computer systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Multi years’ experience in a health care setting developing, installing, maintaining and supporting multi-user systems based on PC and LAN technology and Microsoft Windows, Mobile Operating Systems and products.
  • Comprehensive understanding and real-world experience with Active Directory, Group Policies, and Powershell
  • Comprehensive understanding and real-world experience with using Microsoft tools to image computers
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft InTune as it is used to manage enterprise computers
  • Comprehensive understanding of PC technology, including microcomputers, laser and label printers, multifunction printers, mobile phones, other desktop peripherals, local area networks, software and their common applications.
  • Proficiency in installation, maintenance and support of hardware, software, systems and applications based on PC technology.
  • Good problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Experience in souring and supporting enterprise level audio/video and virtual care infrastructure.
  • Ability to work unsupervised or in a team, in a fast-paced environment.
  • ITIL Foundation certified.
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset
