Applications are invited from flexible individuals with an interest in healthcare to join the pharmacy team in Ninewells Hospital as a Trainee Rotational Pharmacy Support Worker. Hospital or pharmacy experience is not essential as full training will be provided.The role includes dispensing, picking and issuing medicines, checking stock and ward medicines management processes including supporting a ward top up service and the assessment, processing and appropriate reuse of medicines returns, however, processing and appropriate reuse of medicines returns will be a key component of this role.On successful completion of the training framework the candidate will transfer to a Rotational Pharmacy Support Worker post (band 3).Qualities and skills required

• Commitment to achievement of the training
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Flexible and able to adjust to the needs of the service on a daily basis
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to use a keyboard, computer and other electronic devices / equipment effectively

• Training framework includes
• NHS Scotland Healthcare Support Worker induction standards
• GPhC approved pharmacy support worker course (eLearning)
• Local PSW competency training and assessment
• Read, understand and follow standard operating procedures

The training framework is expected to take 15 months to complete although this will vary depending on individual candidate progress rates.You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.Hours of work are 37 hours per week (over 7 days).
