The Training Standards, Hiring, and Logistics Lead role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our workforce. This position oversees the design and delivery of training programs, spearheads strategic hiring initiatives, and optimizes logistical operations to drive our branch’s success.What will you do?
- Oversee and manage the logistics, hiring, and project management team/projects
- Support comprehensive training program development and implementations
- Lead and manage projects assigned to the team and branch
- Support the evaluation of training effectiveness and implement improvements
- Procurement of inventory and vehicle build projects
- Manage and oversee the hiring and onboarding of Peace Officers as well as community engagement activities in the recruitment of those candidates
- Lead OH&S operational committees and implementation of audit requirements
- Participates in the development and revision of policies, standard operating procedures, long range plans and programs
- Analyze and report on emerging or ongoing trends, gaps and overlaps within the section/branch to identify opportunities for innovation
- Liaises with various City of Edmonton and Government of Alberta departments for continuous review and adherence to enforcement programs
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulatory requirements around OH&S, CAD, AFRRCS, and employee training
Qualifications
- Degree in Police Studies, Criminology, Sociology, Education or related field supplement by course work in adult education (diploma in adult learning preferred)
- Completed the Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program or equivalent within Alberta
Minimum five years progressively responsible experience as a peace officer OR Bylaw officer with demonstrated experience teaching or mentoring in a related field and two years experience in adult educationAssets:
- Knowledge of another language
- Experience working with Indigenous communities
- Bylaw officer and Peace officer appointment designation
- Experience working or volunteering in community or with racialized people and other equity seeking groups
- Knowledge of or training in harm reduction, anti-racism, Indigenous awareness and GBA+
Skills required for success:
- Ability to lead, coach, mentor, and advise crews
- Ability to evaluate staff performance and to recruit, select and train and develop staff
- Knowledge of industry policies, standards and procedures
- Proven experience in a training development or instructional role within law enforcement realm
- Skill and ability to teach and schedule training
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and mandatory training compliance
- Demonstrated understanding of racism and discrimination as it pertains to law enforcement
- Demonstrated ability to communicate inclusively and respectfully with diverse community member
- Technically sound skills in utilizing computer software programs
- Knowledgeable in the Google workspace such us google documents, sheets, and slides

Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent). Must obtain business auto insurance for personal vehicle use on City business
- Hire is dependent upon a Criminal Record Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
Work Environment:
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
