The Transport Coordinator is responsible for co-ordinating and supporting the daily distribution operation of the companies heavy goods vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate the execution of scheduled work across the fleet of vehicles and drivers; ensuring that schedules are maintained, and work is completed in the most geographically and logistically, cost efficient manner, whilst providing our customers with an industry leading level of service and maximising vehicle utilisation. This includes ensuring:
- Unladen mileage is kept to the minimal amount possible.
- Stock is utilised from sites most beneficial to the company’s current operational requirements.
- Import volumes are managed in accordance with current operational requirements.
- Operating costs are minimised.
- Deliveries are made in a timely manner, throughout the course of the sites opening times.
- The correct vehicle and body type are utilised for a particular job and/or material.
- Proactiveness in identifying and finding solutions to avoid vehicles being delayed;
- The transport system is kept up to date with accurate job status/information throughout the course of the shift.
- Continually monitor VOR statuses to ensure utilisation of any available vehicle.
- Follow company policy to ensure all vehicles and drivers adhere to road transport compliance and health & safety.
- Ensure all vehicles attend planned maintenance bookings.
- Customers’ daily order quotas are fulfilled, and any deviation is notified to the customer and account manager in an appropriate time frame.
- Monitor driver performance and communicate, engage and performance manage where necessary to ensure performance is maintained or improved.
- Liaise with the Sales Department, Mick George Contracting and Concrete representatives and customers in respect of ongoing service requirements and projects; always endeavouring to provide the highest level of customer service whilst maintaining a high standard of fleet optimisation.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.
Skills/ Qualifications:
- Very Good MS Office Skills – in particular MS Excel
- Flexibility to get tasks completed as needed
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work under instruction whilst using own initiative where necessary
- Highly organised
- Full UK driving license with own transport- desirable
