Join our team and help us keep communities connected.Your OpportunityOur Transportation group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services for all phases of bridge, rail, roadway, and transit projects. Our Calgary, Alberta office is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer-in-Training who will provide technical design services for our Roadway team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can work in a team environment and wants to be involved in exciting local, regional, national, and international projects.Your Key ResponsibilitiesWith guidance, perform geometric design and 3D modeling on a variety of roadway projects in both urban and rural environmentsSupport the development of design plans and assist with preparation of technical specifications and quantity estimates as requiredAssist with the preparation of engineering reports and technical studies, including basic calculationsCoordinate with other disciplines including structural, geotechnical, stormwater and streetlighting to ensure interdisciplinary design integrationFollow applicable standards, quality assurance and quality control procedures during the design processWork to meet project timelines and budgetsAdditional duties may include assisting with project coordination, project pursuits and proposal preparationQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsSelf-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environmentBasic understanding of general civil design concepts in relevant areasBasic understanding of modelling software and knowledge of calculations performed by the software or software savvy with aspirations to develop 3D modeling skillsetKnowledge of modelling software such as Civil3D, Infraworks or OpenRoads considered to be an assetProficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.Knowledge of traffic modeling software such as Synchro or VISSIM considered an assetStrong verbal and written communication skillsHigh emphasis on attention to detail and accuracyTeam player with a positive attitudeEducation and ExperienceDegree in Civil Engineering (or related field)0 – 4 years of industry experienceRegistered as an EIT in the Province of Alberta or ability to obtain within the next 6 monthsPosition will primarily work in an office setting but may require some field work.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other’s talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us.
