In Risk Barclays develops, recommends, and implements controls and cost-effective approaches to minimise Barclay’s risks, identifies and analyses potential sources of loss to minimise risk and estimate the potential financial consequences of an occurring loss.See your commuteJoin us as a UK Corporate Banking -Credit Risk Manager where you will play a critical role within Barclays’ Credit Risk team by managing and evaluating credit risks across a diverse portfolio of Corporate Bank clients. Your responsibilities include analyzing and approving credit proposals within delegated authority, monitoring industry and portfolio developments, and conducting in-depth financial risk assessments to ensure risk is managed within acceptable limits. You will lead credit processes for complex transactions, prepare cases for senior sanctioning, and contribute to strategic risk initiatives and projects. This role requires expertise in financial analysis, risk assessment, and industry research to help uphold Barclays’ robust risk management framework.To be successful as a UK Corporate Banking – Credit Risk Manager you should have experience with:

  • Financial risk analysis (balance sheet, P&L and cash flow) of clients including supporting the credit approval process.
  • Assessment of business and financial risks.
  • Support in financial modelling or stress testing in support of requests/transactions.
  • Analysis of the credit risk across a wide range of corporate and investment banking products.
  • Transaction structuring and lending products documentation
  • Industry sector analysis (trends, success factors, competition, etc.
  • Determining/recommending and monitoring of ratings and other relevant credit parameters.
  • Maintaining the respective internal data systems and support internal/external reporting.
  • Leading credit processes for complex transactions.
  • Experience in corporate credit, project finance and / or leverage finance.
  • Project management and proficiency on credit risk systems. Best practices and system improvements.
  • Case presentation to committees and senior sanctioners where appropriate.
  • Proactively contributing to strategic initiatives and projects within the risk function.

You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.This role is based in London.Purpose of the roleTo safeguard the financial health of the bank by identifying, analysing, and mitigating potential credit risks associated with lending activities.Accountabilities

  • Analysis of financial data, including income, assets, liabilities, credit history, and economic trends, to determine the risk of default.
  • Monitoring of existing loan portfolios to identify potential credit deterioration or early warning signs of default.
  • Recommendation of loan approvals, rejections, or adjustments based on risk evaluation and bank lending policies.
  • Development and implementation of credit risk mitigation strategies, including collateral management, loan restructuring, and workout plans.

  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
