• Effectively diagnosing deficiency and determining whether repair is possible in the field or off-site repair is required, as directed by the Fleet Maintenance Specialists.
• Performing skilled work associated with one of the following: Automotive Service Technician, Truck and Transport Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician trades and their overlapping areas while assisting with skilled work related to the other trades.
• Ordering parts needed for repairs / returning cores.
• Providing information as needed to address any invoice payment concerns.
• Maintaining service records of repairs and preventative maintenance on all equipment.
• Practicing good housekeeping and observing general plant safety and health regulations.
• Assisting in training apprentices, helpers, labourers and other trades as required.
• Working in any area of the Site as directed.
• Undertaking additional training or certification appropriate to these duties.
• Maintaining a prescribed kit of tools.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

• Education

• Must have completed apprenticeship training or equivalent and qualify as a journeyperson in the following trades: Automotive Service Technician, Truck and Transport Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician with additional training and experience in the related trades.
• Experience

• Must have skilled trade ability in the trade in which qualification is held, with demonstrated skills and working expertise in the other areas: Automotive Service Technician, Truck and Transport Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Familiar with and able to operate a variety of shop/hand tools, portable power tools, calibration and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to use computer applications and information systems to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis.
• Ability to use parts catalogues to locate part information and order parts.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with operators and the Fleet Maintenance Specialists.
• Must have the ability to cope with physical activity associated with maintenance and repair work in an outdoor environment.
• Strong problem-solving and oral/written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and mechanical safety codes.
• Ability to efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts and complete repairs to a professional standard.
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required

• Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

• Demanding physical and sensory position.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work is completed outside in all weather conditions, so you must be aware of your surroundings when completing tasks.
• 75% field work and 25% desk work.
