If you are a committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you.The Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanic Position is located in Fort Mackay at the Firebag Airport. Their primary focus is; repairs, overhauls, maintains and services diesel and gas powered automobiles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, excavators and pickup trucks and small engines, including Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) equipment.If you are interested please apply no later than December 13th, 2024.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform corrective, preventative and modification maintenance on all vehicles and equipment assigned
- Diagnoses equipment problems, determines repairs needed on equipment assigned, and demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes,
- Responds to site preservation emergencies and environmental emergencies, other duties as assigned.
- Secondary duties, as required, may include but not limited to: conducting environmental, safety and quality checks, general housekeeping in support of a healthy and safe workplace environment and taking proactive and corrective measures in these areas.
- Must be willing and able to travel.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSHeavy Equipment Mechanics shall be a qualified HET Journeyman or equivalent and possess the diesel endorsement. HET is restricted to Off-Road equipment/earth moving equipment i.e. graders, loaders and backhoes.Heavy Equipment Mechanics shall also be qualified to maintain the specialty vehicles. A Provincial or Territorial Certificate of Qualification is required. Military QL 5, Journeymen qualifications with appropriate qualification with 5 years proven hands-on field experience within the last 10 years in heavy equipment could also be considered.WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS3-5 years of experienceSKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSProficient knowledge and understanding of:
- Experience operating equipment such as dozers, loaders, graders and/or dump trucks.
- Must be familiar safety regulations and practices.
- Hold a valid class 1 driver’s license, or provincial/territorial equivalent
- Willing and able to travel; this position is a rotational position; camp accommodations are provided; flights are provided from Calgary or Edmonton to the Firebag Airport
- Security clearance requirements – Criminal Record Check
- Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing & Random Testing
