The RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Edmonton warehouse. Reporting to the Warehouse and Distribution Manager, the Warehouse Manager will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient warehouse operations, managing delivery trucks, and coordinating with other Warehouse Managers across the company. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, capable of maintaining high standards of customer service, inventory control, and staff supervision.What you will be doing1. Customer Service:

  • Maintain a high level of customer service, ensuring satisfaction for both internal and external customers.
  • Efficiently handle incoming telephone calls and resolve customer issues and complaints.
  • Stay updated on product and equipment knowledge to better assist customers.
  • Assist with general warehouse and delivery duties as needed.

2. Delivery Management:

  • Support and oversee the delivery operations for the Edmonton location.
  • Ensure delivery staff are well-trained and informed about procedures and safety protocols.
  • Address customer service issues related to deliveries and manage product damage resolutions.

3. Inventory Management:

  • Manage inventory control, accuracy, and security.
  • Collaborate with Senior Management and IT to develop and maintain an inventory bar-coding system.
  • Implement effective inventory turnover practices and schedule cycle counts as necessary.

4. Shipping/Receiving Operations:

  • Assist with shipping and receiving functions, ensuring accountability and efficiency.
  • Oversee the inspection of incoming shipments for damage and manage proper documentation.
  • Organize and optimize warehouse space, stock locations, and inventory management.
  • Coordinate inter-store and inter-company stock transfers and ensure proper handling of returned merchandise.
  • Ensure delivery trucks are accurately loaded and assist with customer pick-ups as needed.

5. Staffing and Supervision:

  • Supervise, train, and manage warehouse staff, ensuring they meet performance expectations.
  • Provide payroll department with relevant pay-related information for warehouse/delivery staff.
  • Participate in hiring, performance management, discipline, and termination processes.
  • Develop staff work schedules that align with business needs and conduct team-building activities.

6. Safety and Security:

  • Ensure adherence to company safety guidelines and maintain a high level of warehouse safety and security.
  • Ensure first aid training is up to date and that equipment is well-maintained and safe.
  • Report any safety issues or concerns to the Health and Safety Manager and maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment.
  • Assist with after-hours lock-up and security as required.

To be successful in this role, you ideally have

  • Previous experience in a warehouse manager, supervisor or team lead role
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work well with others.
  • Strong sense of urgency, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Must be physically capable of handling merchandise over 100 lbs.
