We are reinventing Royal Mail for the future and now is a perfect time to join us on that journey.A Yard / Key office assistant is responsible for the safe running of the Transport Yard via manual and computerised methods, including Transport Office Administrator and supporting the transport office manager. Our logistics team are responsible for keeping everything moving. Without logistics we simply wouldn’t be able to function. The physical transportation of mail is what we do.About the roleYard / Key Office Assistants roles and responsibilities:

  • Allocation and Retrieval of 318 Folders, Keys, Number Plates and Log Books
  • Update 318 Folders as required by Network Planners
  • Allocation and Maintenance of Vehicles on BAT , M5 and ISOTRACK systems
  • Responsibility for daily maintenance of digital tachograph systems (inc Vehicle Downloads)
  • Liaise with Internal Customers, PFW , and Admin by phone.
  • Liaise with Shunters, Gatehouse and Bay Marshals by Radio.
  • Compile, Communicate and Update system VOR reports
  • Receive and Monitor Fuel Delivery
  • Under take collection scheduling.
  • Ensure Transport Office Operates in a Clean and Safe Environment

Part of the role will involve assisting the Distribution Manager with the following duties:

  • Vehicle planning to ensure the hub quality and cost targeting are achieved e.g. vehicle planning,
  • Carry out fleet performance monitoring to ensure cost effective and legal use of vehicles.
  • Co-ordinate planned maintenance of vehicles, in liaison with workshop services.
  • Resolve day to day emergency vehicle issues, ensuring that Vehicle Operating Centre operations are maintained.
  • Review health and safety arrangements; maintaining risk assessment and other legal requirements including compliance to local PMT1 procedures.
  • Monitoring of arrival and departure times for Network.
  • Responsible for update and maintenance of drivers P318’s..
  • Responsibility for driver card downloads , debriefs on ISOTRACK . key card compliance maintained.
