The ENV team is made up of environmental economists, analysts and scientists who collect data, develop indicators, review country performance, undertake cross-country analysis and provide policy recommendations.The Environment and Economy Integration (EEI) Division of ENV currently undertakes policy-orientated research in a number of areas at the interface between the environment and the economy, including: environment-economy modelling, environmental policies and policy outcomes, resource productivity and waste, green mobility and transport, trade and environment, and cost-benefit analysis.Job DescriptionRoleThe EEI Division is looking for a dynamic Young Associate (YA) to work as a junior policy analyst/advisor. The selected candidate will report to the Head of the EEI Division. They will provide policy analysis and carry out background research on a variety of topics and projects and support the Head of Division in cross-cutting work including co-ordinating contributions from the Division to broader horizontal activities, communication and outreach. The selected candidate will have a background in environmental economics/economics, environmental policy or other relevant policy areas, good analytical and drafting skills. Given the technical nature of the Division’s work, a strong quantitative background will be an asset.Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out policy analysis and background research on themes relating to the work of the EEI Division.
  • Draft speeches and presentations for the Head of Division and undertake time-sensitive special projects to support high priority areas of the Division.
  • Contribute to initiatives to disseminate the EEI Division’s work, including preparation of material to promote major outputs.
  • Follow the work of relevant OECD committees and maintain links with Member Country Delegations and staff in other Directorates.

QualificationsIdeal Candidate ProfileAcademic Background

  • Undergraduate degree in economics, environmental science and policy, public policy, engineering (graduation date between 1 January 2024 and 1 September 2025). Applications from candidates who already hold or are enrolled in a Master’s, PhD, or equivalent degree will not be considered.
  • Coursework in economics and quantitative analysis required.

Skills

  • Excellent written and oral skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and a methodical approach; ability to work with precision and to report on progress.
  • Strong quantitative skills would be an asset.

Languages

  • Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and a knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the other.
